Zavels Family Farms began in the early 1970's as a registered Angus Cattle Farm, with the original 95 acre farm in East Knox County. At that time it was known as Blaine Angus Farm. The farm was founded by Mose and Nell Zavels. The second generation to farm this pristine Flat Creek Valley Farm; with a view of both Clinch and House Mountain is Mike Zavels and his wife Tammy. They began full time farming in 1982 and have added to the farm product mix ever sense. Tammy can usually be found at the Farmer's Markets each week during the market season. Today we have nearly 300 acres in production. Much of this is devoted to hay, straw, cattle and sheep. We own and farm three farms all within tractor driving distance. The 3rd generation Zavels' are Lindsey, Zack, and Charlie. Zack began full time farming with his dad the summer of 2015 after completing his college degree in May. Charlie farms part time and is currently in his 2nd year in college. Lindsey & Logan (Zack's wife,) can be found at Farmer's Markets during the summer months. Zack raises sheep and Charlie raises pigs. Zack and Charlie work with the growing of produce, setting up at farmer's markets, and doing restaurant deliveries of our produce. Our produce is picked and delivered within hours for peak freshness and highest quality. We never store our produce in a cooler before we deliver to our customers, or before going to farmer's markets. We source seeds from all over the world for unique varieties that you will not find anywhere else. We are not certified organic. However, we strive to use organic crop production methods whenever possible. We farm with a hands on approach and with Zavels' hands only touching your products. Last year we were blessed to get both a new son in law and daughter in law. We look forward to the possible continued growth of the Zavels Family Farm.
